Beauty in My Eyes

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, that is what my high school professor insisting when she defend her story of how much she is adored by her husband. What a funny cheerful old lady she was back then. But her claims are all true for Pinoys it's a stereotype perception to be beautiful one must have a caucasian features. Like white skin tone, pointed nose, colored hair and taller than the usual Pinoy. But where did we come up with this kind of thinking. Not that television and magazine has to do with it...but because we were colonized by two caucasian race, the Spaniards and the Americans (excluding the sakang race :-) This is why their offspring became the standard of beauty. But what if the perfect beauty is engulf by imperfections like this picture i got from worth1000.com (picture created by graphic experts)

She has caucasian feature but she is overweight. But if you look closer she is also the one on the bottom picture. Amaze about their resemblance....one thing is sure that a perfect beauty is a beauty skin depth. That's what beauty in my eyes..what is yours?

Future Cars - Driverless

Movie plots and effects are reality of the future. Like the first movie about the man on the moon...after a few century it became a reality. Now for another century the cars that drive itself like the ones on I-Robot and Demolition Man will be a reality soon. General Motors, GM, is now envisioning a driverless cars that would revolutionize car traveling in the future..AP.org tells the full story. With these cars are release the street accident will be reduce dramatically, handicap will be independent to travel, no more special gadgets, traveling will be a pleasure, party goers won't worry about DUI violation, fathers can send their toddler to school while watching the basketball finals and the best thing is for women, they can know their favorite hubby's hangout by browsing the cars memory :-) This makes wait for the car release more exciting.

I have one suggestion for the developers...Hope GM will feature driving mode for the cars...like Schumacher mode if your in hurry (for adrenaline drivers), Sunday driver mode if you want to annoy the car behind you or Low rider mode (for hip-hop drivers)...LOL!

Doomsday! Death of Superman

All things has a beginning and an end, even for superheroes!

The well known and loved superhero of all time created by Jerry Siegel and artist Joe Shuster released by Detective Comics, Inc, now DC comics, on it's first issue of Action Comics on June 1938 (70 years ago).

"The Man of Steel" is dead! Superman Doomsday an animation movie from Warner brothers released in American, September 2007 by IMBD.

The comic book was Death of Superman, released in 1993, where Doomsday fights all justice league heroes with one hand behind his back and just minutes later all heroes were defeated. Very powerful...plus everytime Doomsday is hit he grew ever more stronger, larger and armors bones comes out of his body...but in the end Superman stopped him but after exerting all his strength Superman dies in the arms of Lois Lane. It was a sad ending comic i read way back in 1994, while i was still on college. but it made me more excited to have the following issue after Doomsday titled "The Man of Steel" (i'll give the detail next time). The last post on Kabayan Junction was last September/07. One reason for this is my addicting habit of doing new things as a result i fail to make to post any blog.

But not all is lost (cross my fingers)...the three months i've been away that i learned the basic to advance techniques of Photoshop using CS3.

This is Kabayan Junction's new favicon and from here on i'm posting along with photos combine with other text or images. It will be a better and exciting new year for Kabayan Junction.

Street Urinal New Look

Do you favor this or not? MMDA urinal makes bad impression due to it's foul smell (they don't maintain it's cleanliness plus the location is along main pedestrian path) also the pink paint that give wrong impression to it's male user. (this is BF's favorite color)

At first i thought this is a brilliant project by MMDA to help male answer the call of nature (Pinoy have a high risk for urinary related problem due to Filipino's love for salty foods), but after a few months this urinals do more damage that it's usefulness. The lack of maintenance/cleaning program this male friendly cubicle is a burden for pedestrians and commuters. Not only does it give out awful smell but the health risk fly that gorge in it. Yuck!!!

This is how a good project turn out bad because of deficiency in it's program. But if Atienza is the MMDA chairman this urinals would look like this.

Not A Story of Ugly Duckling

A well loved story by Christian Andersen is the Ugly Duckling. Who have not heard this story? Be it from the books or disney's episode of cartoon movie, this story inspires humility and persistence in life. Life with all adversity; an effort of strength (like the ugly ducking) will someday end all all thing will become beautiful. This story stays with me until now.

Not all stories are like the ugly duckling. Like Angelica Panganiban! She is a loved at a young age, is was adored by many including her young innocent look. I watch her roles in Princess Sarah and comedy gigs in Ang TV. Her teenage life in Gimik (this was the 90's, also my teenage time). Showbiz have given her many recognition. But i never thought she could give more.

Like a caterpillar that becomes butterfly and a flower that bloom to give out it's smell and beauty. Angelica Panganiban is a butterfly with all beauty.

How to be famous the Ellen Adarna way

How to become famous? This is what many of our Kabayan wanted to be. They believe that fame is associated with good fortune. Fame may work good for many people like politicians, actors, artists, singers, athletes and ordinary people on their job place (also to bloggers)...etc.

One way of doing this (warning: do not attempt if you don't have the gutz) is like Ellen Adarna a girl nextdoor face. She made her fame by posting (she did it excessively) her pictures at Friendster, MySpace, forums, blogs, and many other sites now she is a sensation. She became an instant celebrity in the internet world...she is now the Philippines' queen of myspace. Adding to her fame is her appearance in the July 2005 and June 2006 covers of Candy Mag. (what a babe)

With all that publicity and follower comes the drawback of being famous...her pictures were distributed by stalkers, impostors (pretending and using her name) and video maker (this is the dark side of fame). She was banned from friendster thought if you search her name Ellen Meriam Go Adarna, the search would produce 20 plus account, all with the same name and her photo. Her blogspot address http://ellenmeriamadarna.blogspot.com was abandon because of many bad comment from other people, like this one:

"she ignored me and the next thing i knew she's a bitch u myt get mad of her..cos she's totalli mean..i was blind at first..but now i know who that girl really was SHE behind her beauty"..read the full comment here.

Wow what a bum?! The benefit and detriment of fame come in one package together. It is in the person's attitude in handling glory, be it good or bad....One wealth of advice "humble thyself to people you come across along they are the people you'll meet on your way back. (i'm not making any sense : )

Salute to Philippine Flag

We just celebrated the national flag day, May 28, 2007. This 4 color flag have a long story. And it starts:

"The flag of the Republic of the Philippines was adopted on May 19, 1898. The Philippine flag has two equal horizontal bands (blue on the top and red on the bottom during peacetime; red on the top during war); a white equilateral triangle is based on the hoist side - in the center of the triangle is a yellow sun with eight protruding rays and three yellow, five-pointed stars (one in each corner of the triangle). The ratio of the height to width is usually 1:2.

In the flag, the red color represents blood, courage and bravery, the blue color stands for unity and noble ideas, and the white color stands for peace and purity. The white triangle originally stood for the Katipunan, a revolutionary organization that led the revolt against Spanish rule in the late 1800s - it now stands for equality among men. The sun represents the dawning of a new era of self determination. The 8 rays of the sun stand for the first 8 provinces that revolted against Spain. The 3 stars stand for the 3 main geographic areas of the Philippines: Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao.

This flag was designed in 1897 by General Emilio Aguinaldo, the President of the Revolutionary Government, when he was in exile in Hong Kong during the Philippine Revolution against Spain. The first flag was sewn by Doña Marcela Marino Agoncillo, the wife of the first Filipino Diplomat (Don Felipe Agoncillo). This flag was banned by the Americans during the Philippine-American war and by the Japanese during World War 2."

Harder penalty is this the answer...it's better to teach the history of our flag and our nation as a whole for the youth to understand the value of our 4 colored flag. Also to inculcate in their young mind the love for our country. But this move should start from the officials as they are influential to many youth. As our famous Pinoy phrase "Ang ginagawa ng matanda ang gagayahin ng bata". Go good not for yourself but for the future of everyone else.

Movies: will not miss to see

Started our as a TV junkie now evolve to a movie fanatic, i don't miss out on great movies, specially they are best viewed on the big screen. But my story end here! From the place i now reside and work, big screen movie is not permitted not that this is a poor country, but i guess they have a different mindset when in come to dark places. :)

All i can do is watch the trailer on the net and update my list of movies to watch when i get back home.

Here are the movies i definitely wont miss and are the top of the list.
