HAPPY NEW YEAR

nce again another year passed, for those counting their age and conscious of their physical appearance I would say another line on your forehead.

Auld Lang Syne song is played again and to every new years’ eve, but do know what it mean. I don’t until today.

The song I as Scottish title translated in English literally as "old long since", or more idiomatically, "long long ago" or "days gone by". Matthew Fitt uses the phrase "In the days of auld lang syne" as the equivalent of "Once upon a time..." in his retelling of fairy tales in the Scots language (from Wikipedia).

For those who would want to know the whole song and it’s English translation I took the privilege to copy below extract from new year favors lyrics of Auld Lang Syne.

Auld Lang Syne by Robert Burns

Translation:
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And never brought to mind?
Should old acquaintances be forgotten,
And days of long ago !

Chorus:For old long ago, my dear
For old long ago,
We will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago.

We two have run about the hillsides
And pulled the daisies fine,
But we have wandered many a weary foot
For old long ago.

We two have paddled (waded) in the stream
From noon until dinner time,
But seas between us broad have roared
Since old long ago.

And there is a hand, my trusty friend,
And give us a hand of yours,
And we will take a goodwill draught (of ale)
For old long ago!
And surely you will pay for your pint,
And surely I will pay for mine!

And we will take a cup of kindness yet
For old long ago!

A PROSPEROUS AND WONDERFUL NEW YEAR TO ALL.
