After 3 Months and 11 Days of Kabayan Junction

Still alive! The best word to describe Kabayan Junction, though E Akino (your's truly) is only posting on free time while at the office.

The first month review of Kabayan Junction is about optimistic thinking amids my low traffic and how someday this blog will reach other OFW, Pinoy Expats and Kabayan blogger all over the world. Thanks to my addicting habit (good habit only) that i try to post daily (note: this is the life blood of blogging and also good content) fortunately this gave way for Kabayan Junction to have a 50% increase in unique viewer and page view. I still remember the first time i test my blog worth it registered a close $4,000.00 value (Technorati estimate) now after 3 months and 11 days i tried my blog worth it's now a little less than $45,000.00 (ain't that a worthy reason to blog - hope i could find a way to cash this out...lol)

My blog is worth $44,598.66.
How much is your blog worth?

Still recalling how i started out with no knowledge of html or blogging. How i get so frustrated when some of the things i tried don't work the way they should be. How i register to almost all programs i can come across. Now by patiently working my way with blogging, posting regularly and by reading help tips from blogger gurus like Vin, Annie, Yaro, and Darren (Master of Probloggers) i entered a new world (online world) while earning new friends. One of the friend i meet is Ilker ( got a guest post at his blog). Kabayan blogger friends like Anitokid and Lestat.

This coming days/months for Kabayan Junction would be brighter and wonderful, this is the mindset of a true Pinoy! (For those who want to be on the list of my blogroll give me a comment and i'll follow)

What Kind of Thinker Are You? My Result!

I got my memory jump start again after regularly playing the Lumosity Mind Challenge it's fun and free. Now here is another challenge/test to know What Kind of Thinker Are You? This will take a short time to answer. All you need to do is to choose from the word pair what best describes your character and click that box. Just be careful not to choose something simply because you'd like to have those characteristics. The more honest you are with yourself, the more accurate the test will be. And remember, there is no right or wrong answer! (Resources by: Ilker Yoldas master thinkers)

After taking the test here is my result. It's quite long!

E Akino, You are an Analytical Visionary

You know how to mix the "how" and the "why."

Your Communication Style

Creative Thinker

You love to think, logically and creatively. You are most productive at work when you are solving problems by analyzing specific situations or by creating multiple options. You're adept at strategic planning at the highest levels.

Sixth-Sense Awareness

You are very aware of what's happening around you and/or what's going to happen in the future. It's almost like you have a sixth sense. You see the forest where most people are looking at trees or clumps of trees. This gives you a vision toward which to direct people's energies and thought processes. When you do this, people are amazed and excited about following your vision and strategies.

You're also able to break the vision and strategies into workable components that are easy to understand because they are linear, logical and uncomplicated. You also always ask a very important question when you're thinking through the solutions: "What is missing or doesn't fit?" Others on the project are surprised when you question your own assumptions, facts and logic.

Leading Others You have an unassuming manner in getting people to follow what you want them to do. Some of the reasons you're so successful at getting people to follow your vision and strategies are as follows:

1. Before you speak and ask others to do something, you have the whole project meticulously laid out so it makes sense and it's easy to follow;
2. You ask for input and genuinely try to accommodate the plan to what people suggest;
3. When problems arise, you can be very creative in finding, or assisting others in finding, optional ways to handle the situations
4. And, as a whole, your mannerisms and your ways of communicating are clear and personable.
Your Communication Skills

Your communication skills are exceptional. You have a way of making people very relaxed and open during a dialogue with you. You pick up the most salient points and nonverbal gestures during a conversation. Then, you imaginatively redirect them in along your own lines of thought so that people feel they have fully participated in the process.

Respecting Others’ Needs

The one thing you don't like to do is to push or cajole others into doing something they are resisting. Yes, the project must be finished, but not at the expense of other people's individual feelings or integrity. Your respect for the rights of others supersedes the immediate need to accomplish the goal as planned. You'll find a creative way to meet the challenge while including the personal preference of the individual. That's why people enjoy being on a team or project with you. It's also why many people follow you even though you don't like to think of yourself as a great leader.

Communication Tips

People who have a predominantly Left-brain Abstractthinking style thrive on careful analysis of all pertinent factors before making any decisions. Their style is naturally systematic and detail-oriented, characterized by the pursuit of logic, predictability and discipline. They may appear distant and aloof at times, as they prefer to listen rather than talk. They tend to stick to the rules and stay within the confines of their orderly world.

When communicating with a Left-brain Abstract person, you are likely to experience the following characteristics:

* You might find their passion for logical analysis to be ponderous or overly pedantic at times, but if you keep an open mind, their conclusions could be beneficial to you.
* In situations where you must collaborate on a project or a plan, their tendency to stick to the rules can be limiting to your own creative visions. Present your optional ideas as logical alternatives worthy of consideration.
* They may appear distant and aloof at times, as they prefer to listen rather than talk. Don't take this personally or assume they're arrogant. Remember that they're absorbing and processing information before they render an opinion.
* They can be a valuable source of background or historical information, which you sometimes tend to overlook while you aim for the "big picture." Nevertheless, expect them to provide more details than you might care for.

People who have a predominantly Right-brain Concrete thinking style thrive on interacting with people and being the center of attention. They inspire others with their charm and warm personality. They can read other people very easily and use their intuitive skills to adapt effortlessly to changing situations. They are excellent at exciting and persuading others to follow their suggestions. They often speak without spending too much time thinking about what to say.

When communicating with a Right-brain Concrete person, you are likely to experience the following characteristics:

* At times, you might find their ebullient need to be the center of attention to be overpowering or annoying.
* Like therapists, they can sometimes encourage you to open up and confide with them about personal problems or concerns you have. You're usually okay with this, as long as they don't pry too deeply or push their solutions too strongly.
* As much as you think before you speak, they think by speaking. They are excellent at exciting and persuading others to follow their suggestions.
* Even if they don't take logic or factual data into account, they may come up with innovative or imaginative ideas that are worthy of your consideration.
* Since you both like to come up with ideas, the verbal interaction can be both personally rewarding and productive. They may not share your visionary creativity, but they often have an intuitive sense of what is most suited for you.
* They can sometimes seem manipulative in getting their way. While you might find their personal charm and charisma irresistible, don't allow yourself to be swayed in a direction that you know is not right for you.

People who have a predominantly Left-brain Concrete thinking style are action-oriented and thrive on challenge. As movers of people and organizations, they enforce rules, focus on goals, meet deadlines, and demand immediate action. They typically avoid getting bogged down in details and want to go directly to the bottom line. They prefer short and easy action-items or conclusions. They are decisive people who want to get things done quickly and efficiently.

When communicating with a Left-brain Concrete person, you are likely to experience the following characteristics:

* You might find their style at times overbearing or in some cases, even intimidating. As a result, you're likely to interact with them only as much as absolutely necessary.
* When it comes to solving problems, they view feelings or abstract concepts as intrusions that prevent them from reaching a firm conclusion. You'd be better off not allowing your feelings to become too much of an issue.
* On the other hand, your feelings about certain situations are paramount to your comfort level, so don't be afraid to let them know how important that is to you.
* There might be times that you will feel they are pushing too hard to get you to make a final decision. On the other hand, you might be struggling with all the options you're considering and could benefit from their decisive nature.
* Don't be offended by their direct talk if it seems abrupt they are goal-oriented people who know how to get things done.

When communicating with another Left-brain Concrete, you are likely to experience the following characteristics:

* Like you, they tend to be visionary thinkers who look at the big picture and try to understand how things relate to each other.
* They value creative, inspirational options as much as you do. They can usually provide interesting alternatives that would be worth your while to consider. At times, however, you might become a bit irritated with their tendency to go off on tangents when you're trying to focus on a particular issue of concern.
* With the tendency you both have to procrastinate while exploring your options, one of you will need to refocus your energies on making a decision when the need to accomplish something arises.
* You are both open-minded and feelings-oriented. Together, you are likely to create a relaxed, low-key atmosphere based on trust and good rapport.
* Remember to be patient with their quiet, reflective nature; just like you, they may be thinking of other options that are more suitable for you or for themselves.
* Ultimately, you both need to feel comfortable with how your decisions fit into your world.

PhUV Own And Drive Pinoy Made Car

Finally Pinoy owns a car. A vehicle to compete to other asian cars like Honda, Hundai, Nissan and Mitsubishi that would be the next big thing in the future. For now we can say "Yabang Pinoy" not only with an Abaca Bracelets but with a roaring horse powered PhUV. PhUV or Philippine Utility Vehicle (PhUV), a locally assembled utility vehicle, made its public debut Tuesday, June 12, 2007.

Designed to carry both people and cargo, the PhUV is assembled from completely knocked down (CKD) parts and boasts of high local value added parts and labor content.

Image from Gani's Photo

What is a PhUV?
The PhUV (Philippine Utility Vehicle) is a Filipino vehicle: for Pinoys, made by 50,000 Filipino workers from over 300 Philippine made and assembled autoparts. It is designed to carry both people and cargo, thus it is ideal for business use on weekdays and family use on weekends.

Why do we need the PhUV?
Through the years, we have witnessed the steady decline of local auto parts manufacturers and currently, most of what is left of our membership are operating at only 40% of their rated plant capacities. There are about 45,000 workers dependent on the local parts industry and its support industries and thus, MVPMAP saw the need to look for a vehicle that will hopefully revive the industry, a move similar to what our Asean neighbors have done – look for a niche and serve it!! We are expecting the Philippine Utility Vehicle (PhUV) Program to do this as we believe it can be the much-needed catalyst to revive our ailing local auto parts industry. (from Drive by Shooter)

If i'm going to buy a car, instead of second hand sedan car, i'll take this PhUV. Patronizing our own product increase our economy status. Though the PhUV look like a new version of jeepney, remember it's a Pinoy made vehicle. I believe in Pinoy some day that brand will be seen on races and would beat other popular cars. Ahem! :-)

OFW Key to Philipppine Economy

Everybody hates GMA, :galit: that's politics and that's a fact. Once a friend told me that politic is like looking at a mirror, it has two view. The one side that benefit their interest and the other that's deprived (that's what they all say). This the reality of how life at politics works. A mans will allow you deprive of his right but he will kill for his interest. Amid this murmuring the question is what can we do! :ha?: One thing i learned in my 30 year life is to work for my own. Government is like a parent serving it's children, while others are favored, others are left unnoticed. And as a good child though unnoticed we should still respect our parents. In doing so we could help them (government) help us (Filipinos).

This is the vision of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo for OFWs as she urged the Filipino community in this East Asian nation to invest in real state, the stock market, government bonds and treasury bills, and other small and medium enterprises back home to help the government sustain the country’s economic growth...read the full story

It's the attitude that will help us reach our purpose and our dream. Change your attitude to change your future.

Living a Life of Fraction

Top of the list is talk show queen Oprah Winfrey. Among her 2007 Forbes survey top list is her yearly position as the richest women celebrity with an estimated value of $1.5 billion. Wow that's a lot of tens if your a boxing referee and much harder count if your a wrestling referee :-)

Forbes computed her to earn a whopping $4+0.00/minute. As i watch the count down i felt like living a life of fraction from her. Her minute's earning is my whole month work. Who does not feel this kind of despair.

It feels like measuring the height of Eiffel tower using a toothpick. How about delivering a pizza to the penthouse of Thailand 101 Building using the stairs. Or riding the donkey instead of the train. I could think of more thing, but this anguish is just for a moment cuz i know her work and devotion in giving back the blessing she have. (Just hope Paris, Britney and Lindsay won't throw their fortune for a glass of vodka :-)

I know the phrase that when it rain it pours. I know someday my rain would come and when it does i'll make sure that others will shower along with me.

Pandesal Break Makes Pinoy Feel At Home

After i post about the Filipino foods i missed as well as the Pinoy Sisig as i think of Pinoy foods i can only munch if i come home. I never realized that i'm enjoying a Pinoy favorite every morning. This is the Pandesal (or pan de sal; literally, salt bread) the most popular yeast-raised bread in the Philippines. How lucky we Pinoy here in Saudi to have many bakery, even huge department stores, to have fresh baked Pandesals.

As Saudi and Middle East (GCC) countries have a huge turn-over of Filipino worker, businessmen here took the advantage of providing this Pinoy bread feast. The good it bring is it provide jobs for Pinoy baker. Just hope that other Pinoy would start-up a bakery to complete our feasting on Pandesal feel more Pinoy.

For those who would want to try doing their own Pandesal. This recipe is from The Secrets of Jesuit Breadbaking. It's the pan de sal recipe used by the Jesuits at Ateneo University.
by: James Sly (alt.food.asian of google group)

Pan de Sal

1 tbsp. vegetable shortening
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar
1 cup boiling water
1 tbsp. active dry yeast
4 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
4 ounces plain crackers, crumbled (about 40 crackers)

Combine the shortening, salt, sugar, and boiling water in a large mixing
bowl. Stir and set aside to cool to a warm temperature (about 110-115F).

Combine the yeast and warm water in a small bowl, stirring until yeast is
dissolved. Set aside for 5 minutes. Gradually mix in flour to make a
dough.

Turn out on a lightly floured surface. Knead for 8 to 10 minutes, until
dough is smooth and elastic, adding flour as necessary to prevent
stickiness. Return it to the bowl. Cover with plastic wrap and let rise in
a warm place until doubled in bulk--about 45 minutes.

Preheat oven to 425F. Flour two baking sheets.

Gently knead the dough again. Divide into 16 pieces and shape into buns.
Roll the pieces in the cracker crumbs and place on the baking sheets, spread
well apart. Cover and let rise 20 minutes. Bake for 15 minutes. Transfer
to a wire rack to cool.

Not A Story of Ugly Duckling

A well loved story by Christian Andersen is the Ugly Duckling. Who have not heard this story? Be it from the books or disney's episode of cartoon movie, this story inspires humility and persistence in life. Life with all adversity; an effort of strength (like the ugly ducking) will someday end all all thing will become beautiful. This story stays with me until now.

Not all stories are like the ugly duckling. Like Angelica Panganiban! She is a loved at a young age, is was adored by many including her young innocent look. I watch her roles in Princess Sarah and comedy gigs in Ang TV. Her teenage life in Gimik (this was the 90's, also my teenage time). Showbiz have given her many recognition. But i never thought she could give more.

Like a caterpillar that becomes butterfly and a flower that bloom to give out it's smell and beauty. Angelica Panganiban is a butterfly with all beauty.

See her metamorphosis.

At her early teens
