Do you believe in Astrology (from Greek: ἀστρο, astro, "constellation"; and λόγος, logos, "knowledge")? Though rational people are skeptic to believers some still read their horoscope on local newspaper. I do, just for fun!

It's very intriguing to know about ourself, it's fun and could help us reach our goals. Since Astrology has been in study and used since the early civilization. The origins of the astrological doctrine and method are eminent in Asia, Europe and the Middle East.

David Airey posted an article today titled "How much money is your blog worth?" and out of curiosity i follow the link to Dane Carlson's site, where an applet submission is provided. I type-in Kabayan Junction's URL and to my surprise, this is the result:

Yes, Kabayan Junction is now worth a little less than U$D-4,000.00. Now this is a sky rocket confident booster. Wooow! Now I'm worth more than my bank account. LOL.

Now one thing to figure out is where can i cash out? LOL. Seriously i still have many sleepless night and valued articles to post before i can match great sites like, DoshDosh (worht $0.5M) TheThinkingBlog (worth $1.8M), JohnChow (worth $1.9M) and ProBlogger (worth $3.4M).

Sentiment of a Saudi OFW

We always hear that Filipinos are world class and in different ways. Our nation already produced many performers, athletes, inventors, scientist, businessman and many other professionals loving and performing their jobs. Majority of our work force is from the supporting and labor force but this is again burden by this sudden news that Saudi Arabia Restricts Re-Entry of Ex-OFWs. This was the headline story from Arab News' Philippine section, last April 16, 2007. (excerpts from Arab news) The "No Objection Certificate" or "NOC policy" is again revived by the Saudi Arabian government to all ex-Saudi OFW. A circular was passed by Saudi Arabia to the Philippine Embassy, stating: that all ex-Saudi OFW's arriving in the Kingdom with new companies and contracts have to provide their old passports stamped with a “No Objection Certificate” (NOC) from their previous employers. The circular also stated, all visa applicants, except domestic helpers, are required to submit old passports together with their visa applications. Those without old passports must submit a Department of Foreign Affairs certificate that their passport is their first.” Another restriction mentioned in the memo is that even if the OFW has an NOC in his passport, the job category that he is applying for in his new job should be the same as the category of his previous job.

The Saudi Arabian Embassy in the Philippines outlined the new directives in a memo that was circulated on April 4, which comes into effect April 16, 2007. The new directive is in response to an increase in numbers of complaints by many Saudi firms, whose Filipino workers have ran away. (read the whole story here...)

As POEA statistics show that Saudi Arabia is the largest market for Pinoy work force with 250,000 Filipinos yearly coming in the Kingdom on either first time and renewed contracts. There are also thousands of Filipino families living in the Kingdom.

Now, why such policy be revived; plus they added a new burden; by not allowing ex-OFW to have a visa other than what was first issued. This steps are not the definite solutions to this problem. They should address this problem first internally, why do our Kabayan abscond and abandon their employers, as to what this small employer ares reporting. They should investigate and make a list of employers that have a regular list of absconding employee, validate the reason. About the other policy added, how could this be on effect when most employers just apply a visa with a technical or labor job but issue this visas to their office personnels and other important position in their company. Now where does the problem start and where should it be first address.

We all know the trait and attitude of Filipino being resourceful and industrious, now, why do this policy be hindering our Kabayan for better job employers, better salary, better conditions and fringe benefits if they are qualify for the job vacancy from other company giving it. Many big companies are awarding and recognizing many achievement and contribution of our Kabayan in their business organization. This top company know this, because we Filipino do our jobs well and efficiently. (As observed to big companies here; they won't be successful if, no Filipino is working with them.) You what is right, voice it out!

But, as we Filipino are also good at; is to think positively to any adversity in life. This may be a call to find other opportunity to countries that are more open and have a common (freedom) from our country.

Note: On April 21, 2007 an Erratum was issue to by the newspaper saying: The NOC policy is not mention on the circular letter to the Philippine Embassy.

Pinoy Big Brother House Swap

Now Big Brother has done it again by swapping house mate from other end of the world with totally different culture and custom. Pinoy Big Brother is represented by Bruce who is 100% Pinoy not just on his looks but the trait Filipino with regards to family orientation.

What to expect from his new house mates who are liberated and open. I visited the Big Brother Slovenia site and is totally amazed see how they act. While PBB house mates are conservatie and modest, the BBS are not. While PBB house mate party with less skin in BBS they party with less cloth. Here is the video link of their liberated culture. Started our as a TV junkie now evolve to a movie fanatic, i don't miss out on great movies, specially they are best viewed on the big screen. But my story end here! From the place i now reside and work, big screen movie is not permitted not that this is a poor country, but i guess they have a different mindset when in come to dark places. :)

All i can do is watch the trailer on the net and update my list of movies to watch when i get back home.

Ever wonder why majority of country are poor, though they every one struggle so hard to became rich. Here is a thought for everyone.

The difference between the poor countries and the rich ones is not the age of the country.

This can be shown by countries like India & Egypt, that are more than 2000 years old and are poor.

On the other hand, Canada, Australia & New Zealand, that 150 years ago were inexpressive, today are developed countries and are rich.

The difference between poor & rich countries does not reside in the available natural resources.

Japan has a limited territory, 80% mountainous, inadequate for agriculture & cattle raising, but it is the second world economy. The country is like an immense floating factory, importing raw material from the whole world and exporting manufactured products.

Another example is Switzerland, which does not plant cocoa but has the best chocolate of the world. In its little territory they raise animals and plant the soil during 4 months per year. Not enough, they produce dairy products of the best quality. It is a small country that transmits an image of security, order & labor, which made it the world’s strong safe.

Executives from rich countries who communicate with their counterparts in poor countries show that there is no significant intellectual difference.

Race or skin color are also not important: immigrants labeled lazy
in their countries of origin are the productive power in rich European countries.

What is the difference then?

The difference is the attitude of the people, framed along the years by the education & the culture.

On analyzing the behavior of the people in rich & developed countries, we find that the great majority follow the following principles in their lives:

1. Ethics, as a basic principle.
2.. Integrity.
3. Responsibility.
4. Respect to the laws & rules.
5. Respect to the rights of other citizens.

6. Work loving.
7. Strive for saving & investment.
8. Will of super action.
9. Punctuality.

In poor countries, only a minority follow these basic principles in their daily life.

We are not poor because we lack natural resources or because nature was cruel to us.

We are poor because we lack attitude.

We lack the will to comply with and teach these functional principles of rich & developed societies.

If you love your country, let live this message to have the majority of people reflect about this & CHANGE, ACT!!

Be Proud "Yabang Pinoy"

"Cho Seung-Hu" the gunman in Monday's massacre at Virginia Tech a 23-year-old senior English major from Centreville, Virginia, Virginia Tech.

Is he to depress, lonely, and desperate or is he just "angry to rich kids".

He was quoted as saying "You caused me to do this". This word is enough reason for a man to kill more than 30 people with out second thoughts.

One thing is sure for this incident Asians will be look at, more differently. Hope our Kabayan's won't bear the racism that this bring.

Midway Boardwalk - Coney Island, known as "America's Playground" in the 1930's, comes to life at the Midway Boardwalk. And Jungle Outpost - The heart of the Amazon is the setting of the Jungle Outpost.

"Space Shuttle" a favorite ride and the main attraction at Spaceport park zone. This is a big boy's favorite ride. Next time i'll bring a cam 'corder to document it's wonderful loop.

But my youngest "X" is contented riding the rino's ancestor, who is not amazed to see a dinosaur even a store replica (but this one is definitely a relative of the elephant - look at the front right leg..lol)

Now my second son is too friendly to have a picture with a total stranger. I'm talking about the boy in blue shirt...lol. (Happy halloween "B".)

Another win on the bag

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao did it again. A victorious win over Jorge Solis, an undefeated super featherweight challenger.

Last 14 April 2007 at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas. Pacquiao won by knock out in the 8th round, after Pacman throw his signature hard left punches that send Solis on mat two times.

Manny at first few rounds was measuring the strength of Solis, but on the 7th round after an accidental head butt that cut Paquiao's left eye, fire and punch came out pouring on Solis.

This fight is a good example that Filipino pushes hard after all adversity, this make our Kabayan more PROUD.

He came for a humble beginning, fight his way to the statue that he deserve today.

Manny "Pacman" Pacquiao prove that Filipino is not be push around.

After his fight with Erick "El Terrible" Morales on their 3rd do or die match, this picture came out of circulation. He is doubt as the new Hero, for the 1st time in a long year we did not have any crime while the match is on going. Something to think that people won't do anything bad if they are busy and enjoying what they do or if Pacman has a daily fight (lol).

Hope that Pacman would just concentrate on his boxing career and not join the world of politics, or else his good image might get some smugs.

1 month of Kabayan Junction



Time fly so fast, Kabayan Junction is already 1 months since the first post (if it's already consider a post..lol.)

After 1 months what did i put on this blog site. Hmm... I guess it's the ads banner that i have put on so much attention and not the post.

Other things that happen here! It generated 333 visitors according to freeweblogger site meter, it now have an average of 3.25 visitors per day from whozontop ranking. But surprisingly to Google Analytic (for 1 months) it only made 43 unique visitor and 92 page views, not excluding the 41.67% visits from www2.blogger (so i guess half of the visits are mine...funny huh). So the numbers really wont tally.

It does not matter, the ads or the figures of the site meters, what's important is i made some Kabayan's visit and read some stuff i put here (Hope others could leave a comment if they visited..lol)

Another thing i've done is to convert the template to 3 columns, thanks to Kumiko.

This new month your Kabayan will concentrate on posting more and lessen the banner ads, if not to put them all down.

Help our country, be more proud

Many said bad thing about our government and to the official, but what do we do as an individual. All we do is complain about the lousy policy and action of our elected official.

As individual we have the greatest will to start a change. Because their won't be a full government with out our small representation.

Local Pinoy Tourist - Good or Bad for Tourism


Thanks to the long holiday, our Kabayan have time to spend time relaxing and family get together. This year Boracay, Puerto Gallera and many beaches - resorts spot are flooded by tourist.

Surprisingly local tourist are reportedly greater this time that foreigners. Now...this is a good thing that Filipino's are enjoying life...plus the beauty of our country.

It may be a good news to you and me, but others specially business stall owner of resorts see it differently. Why? They say that local tourist are stingy, "kuripot", they don't buy from stalls but instead bring meal, "baon" and other stuff along. Funny to hear that Filipinos are always resourceful, "madiskarte" in every situation.

This is not the general perception of most business stall owner. Other's are happy and said that local tourist do spend and patronize stall goodies.

What every way other say or view this changing shift of local tourist. The bottom line is that we Filipino local tourists, balik-bayan or what ever they may be called, should be the first to explore and enjoy the beauty of our country.

Lets patronize and love more our country: "PHILIPPINES".

Sad to read such a review from a big site in tourism. Our government should be more vigilant in to stop the crimes and corrupts in our country. Better to ask more to media play a big role to uplift Philippine image. More than ever media should research and report more on the good news that's happening in our country not just the easy and sensational crime news.

I Personally hear a German nationals' sentiments about this awful image of our country. He said in reality Philippine is a peaceful place that where he came from, but because of bad news that they see and hear in our national news at first he was reluctant to visit. But in the end said "he is glad he took the chance". How he is happily living with his Pilipina wife in the metro.

But not all foreigner take this chance, I know a business man supposedly going to visit Philippine but his personal assistant, a Pinoy, gave out a negative comment about his country. Sad to hear that our Kabayan's are the one's not saying good thing about our country when in fact amids the chaos and bad news circulating to our country, I personally believe that Philippine is still the best country, best place and most beautiful land in the world.

It's good to hear that we belong to the top search site like London-UK, Frankfurt-Germany, San Juan-Puerto Rico, Bangkok-Thailand, Paris-France, Rome-Italy, and Amsterdam-Netherlands. This will certainly boost more visitor specially Western foreigner.

Joke Time # 7

A man lay sprawled across three entire seats in the posh theatre. When the usher came by and noticed this, he whispered to the man, "Sorry, sir, but you're only allowed one seat." The man groaned but didn't budge. The usher became impatient. "Sir, if you don't get up from there I'm going to have to call the manager." Again, the man just groaned, which infuriated the usher who turned and marched briskly back up the aisle in search of his manager.
In a few moments, both the usher and the manager returned and stood over the man. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move him, but with no success. Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the situation briefly then asked, "All right buddy, what's your name?" "Sam," the man moaned. "Where ya from, Sam?" With pain in his voice Sam replied "The balcony."


A policeman was patrolling a local parking spot overlooking a golf course. He drove by a car and saw a couple inside with the dome light on. There was a young man in the driver's seat reading a computer magazine and a young lady in the back seat knitting. He stopped to investigate. He walked up to the driver's window and knocked. The young man looked up, cranked the window down, and said, "Yes Officer?"
"What are you doing?" the policeman asked. "What does it look like?" answered the young man. "I'm reading this magazine." Pointing towards the young lady in the back seat, the officer then asked, "And what is she doing?" The young man looked over his shoulder and replied, "What does it look like? She's knitting."
"And how old are you?" the officer then asked the young man. "I'm nineteen," he replied. "And how old is she?" asked the officer. The young man looked at his watch and said, "Well, in about twelve minutes she'll be sixteen."


An eight-year-old boy went into a grocery store and picked out a large box of laundry detergent. The grocer walked over and asked the boy if he had a lot of laundry to do. "Oh, no laundry," the boy said, "I'm going to wash my dog." "But you shouldn't use this to wash your dog," said the grocer. "It's very powerful and if you wash your dog in this, he'll get sick. In fact, it might even kill him." But the boy was not to be stopped and carried the detergent to the counter and paid for it. A week later, the boy was back in the store to buy some candy. The grocer asked the boy how his dog was doing. "Oh, he died," the boy said. The grocer said he was sorry, but added, "I tried to tell you not to use that detergent on your dog." "Well, the boy replied, "I don't think it was the detergent that killed him." "Oh? What was it then?" "I think it was the spin cycle!"


A woman was trying hard to get the catsup to come out of the bottle. During her struggle the phone rang so she asked her four-year-old daughter to answer the phone. "It's the minister, Mommy," the child said to her mother. Then she added, "Mommy can't come to the phone right now. She's hitting the bottle."


While proudly showing off his new apartment to friends, a college student led the way into the den. "What is the big brass gong and hammer for?" one of his friends asked. "That is the talking clock," the man replied. "How's it work?""Watch," the man said and proceeded to give the gong an ear shattering pound with the hammer. Suddenly, someone screamed from the other side of the wall, "Knock it off, you idiot! It's two o'clock in the morning!"


A man comes home from an exhausting day at work, plops down on the couch in front of the television, and tells his wife, "Get me a beer before it starts." The wife sighs and gets him a beer. Fifteen minutes later, he says, "Get me another beer before it starts." She looks cross, but fetches another beer and slams it down next to him. He finishes that beer and a few minutes later says, "Quick, get me another beer, it's going to start any minute." The wife is furious. She yells at him "Is that all you're going to do tonight? Drink beer and sit in front of that TV? You're nothing but a lazy, drunken, fat slob, and furthermore ..." The man sighs and says, "It's started ..."


How about the two old men, one a retired professor of psychology and the other a retired professor of history. Their wives had talked them into a two week stay at a hotel in the Catskills. They were sitting around on the porch of the hotel watching the sun set. The history professor said to the psychology professor, "Have you read Marx?" To which the professor of psychology said, "Yes, I think it's the wicker chairs."


An artist asked the gallery owner if there had been any interest in his paintings currently on display. "I've got good news and bad news," the owner replied. "The good news is that a gentleman inquired about your work and wondered if it would appreciate in value after your death. When I told him it would, he bought all fifteen of your paintings."
"That's wonderful!" the artist exclaimed, "What's the bad news?". With concern, the gallery owner replied, "The guy was your doctor."


A young bride and groom-to-be had just selected their wedding rings. As the young lady admired the plain platinum and diamond band she had chosen for herself, she suddenly looked concerned. "Tell me," she asked the rather elderly salesman, "is there anything special I'll have to do to take care of this ring?" With a fatherly smile, the salesman said, "one of the best ways to protect a wedding ring is to soak it in dishwater."


The young clerk's responsibilities included bringing the judge a hot cup of coffee at the start of every day. Each morning the judge was enraged that the coffee cup arrived two-thirds full. The clerk explained that he had to rush to get the coffee delivered while it was still hot, which caused him to spill much of it along the way.
None of the judge's yelling and insults produced a full cup of coffee, until he finally threatened to cut the clerk's pay by one-third if he continued to produce one-third less than the judge wanted. The next morning he was greeted with a cup of coffee that was full to the brim, and the next morning and the morning after that.
The judge couldn't resist gloating over his success and smugly complimented the clerk on his new technique. "Oh, there's not much to it," admitted the clerk happily, "I take some coffee in my mouth right outside the coffee room, and spit it back in when I get outside your office."


Two guys rob a store, they burst out the door running as they hear the sirens of cop cars coming closer. The two dive into two separate bushes hoping they won't get caught. Soon the cop cars stop near the bushes and the two robbers hearing foot steps grow more nervous. A cop then grabs one of the guys out the bush laughing "Busted". As he drags the robber off he looks back shaking his head in shame... "Come on John!!!!!!!!" he screams "They got US!"


A man is flying in a hot air balloon and realizes he is lost. He reduces height and spots a man down below. He lowers the balloon further and shouts: "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised my friend I would meet him half an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."
The man below says: "Yes. You are in a hot air balloon, hovering approximately 30 feet above this field. You are between 40 and 42 degrees N. latitude, and between 58 and 60 degrees W. longitude."
"You must be an engineer" says the balloonist.
"I am" replies the man. "How did you know."
"Well" says the balloonist, "everything you have told me is technically correct, but I have no idea what to make of your information, and the fact is I am still lost."
The man below says "You must be a manager."
"I am" replies the balloonist, "but how did you know?"
"Well", says the man, "you don't know where you are, or where you are going. You have made a promise which you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to solve your problem. The fact is you are in the exact same position you were in before we met, but now it is somehow my fault."


A philosophy professor stood before her class and had some items in front of her. When the class began, silently she picked up a large empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with rocks. She then asked the students if the jar was full? They agreed that it was. So the professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. She shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks. She then asked the students again if the jar was full. They again agreed it was.
The professor picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. Now, said the professor, I want you to recognize that this is your life. The rocks are the important things - your family, your partner, your health, your children - things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house, your car. The sand is everything else. The small stuff. If you put the sand into the jar first, there is no room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical check-ups. Take your partner out dancing. There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal. Take care of the rocks first - the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.
But then... A student then took the jar which the other students and the professor agreed was full, and proceeded to pour in a glass of beer. Of course the beer filled the remaining spaces within the jar making the jar truly full. The moral of this tale is that no matter how full your life is, there is always room for BEER
.


One night, Tim was walking home when, all of a sudden, a thief jumped on him. Tim and the thief were began to wrestle. They rolled about on the ground and Tim put up a tremendous fight. However, the thief managed to get the better of him and pinned him to the ground. The thief then went through Tim's pockets and searched him. All the thief could find on Tim was 25 cents. The thief was so surprised at this that he asked Tim why he had bothered to fight so hard for a 25 cents. "Was that all you wanted?" Tim replied, "I thought you were after the five hundred dollars I've got in my shoe!"
