PhUV Own And Drive Pinoy Made Car

Finally Pinoy owns a car. A vehicle to compete to other asian cars like Honda, Hundai, Nissan and Mitsubishi that would be the next big thing in the future. For now we can say "Yabang Pinoy" not only with an Abaca Bracelets but with a roaring horse powered PhUV. PhUV or Philippine Utility Vehicle (PhUV), a locally assembled utility vehicle, made its public debut Tuesday, June 12, 2007.

Designed to carry both people and cargo, the PhUV is assembled from completely knocked down (CKD) parts and boasts of high local value added parts and labor content.

What is a PhUV?
The PhUV (Philippine Utility Vehicle) is a Filipino vehicle: for Pinoys, made by 50,000 Filipino workers from over 300 Philippine made and assembled autoparts. It is designed to carry both people and cargo, thus it is ideal for business use on weekdays and family use on weekends.

Why do we need the PhUV?
Through the years, we have witnessed the steady decline of local auto parts manufacturers and currently, most of what is left of our membership are operating at only 40% of their rated plant capacities. There are about 45,000 workers dependent on the local parts industry and its support industries and thus, MVPMAP saw the need to look for a vehicle that will hopefully revive the industry, a move similar to what our Asean neighbors have done – look for a niche and serve it!! We are expecting the Philippine Utility Vehicle (PhUV) Program to do this as we believe it can be the much-needed catalyst to revive our ailing local auto parts industry. (from Drive by Shooter)

If i'm going to buy a car, instead of second hand sedan car, i'll take this PhUV. Patronizing our own product increase our economy status. Though the PhUV look like a new version of jeepney, remember it's a Pinoy made vehicle. I believe in Pinoy some day that brand will be seen on races and would beat other popular cars. Ahem! :-)
